Shrove Tuesday

This year, Shrove Tuesday is on February 21. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday or the commencement of the Lenten season. Shrove Tuesday is associated with eating pancakes as traditionally, it was the last chance for indulgence before Lent and 40 days of fasting. It was an opportunity to use up rich foods that should be avoided during Lent. Within Living Waters, students, staff members, and Division Office staff celebrate this day to prepare for fasting on Ash Wednesday and throughout Lent.

Teachers' Convention

Professional Learning of our teachers is imperative. The teachers from all of our Living Waters communities of Edson, Slave Lake and Whitecourt are in Edmonton attending the North Central Teachers Convention. The theme of the convention is: Teachers have the opportunity to attend a plethora of learning opportunities and sessions that help them to increase their efficacy in the classroom. Superintendent Lanctot had the opportunity to address all of the new teachers at the Woodlands Rivers Local #40 Induction Ceremony held on February 9th. Superintendent Lanctot congratulated all new teachers to the profession and left them with three key messages, “Love what you do, Love who you teach, and surround yourself with good people.”
