Holy Thursday falls on the Thursday before Easter and commemorates Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples. During this final meal, Jesus identifies the person who ultimately betrays him. At the Last Supper, Jesus said these words that we hear in Mass:
“This is my body, which is given for you” - when Jesus breaks bread
“This is my blood…” - when he holds up the cup of wine
Following the Last Supper, Jesus and his disciples went to the Mount of Olives to pray and this is where Jesus was betrayed by Judas.

Some of our classroom teachers within Living Waters schools re-enact the Last Supper with their students to recognize the importance of the events on Holy Thursday.

The Curriculum Team meetings in April were focused on reviewing the Grades 1-3 Divisional Assessments. Time was spent reviewing all assessment tasks and creating rubrics that align with the new curriculum and PowerSchool. Team members also had time to collaborate and develop resources for our last Concept - My Impact. We are blessed to have dedicated teachers on our teams who are committed to supporting our students throughout the implementation of the new curriculum.

Today is the Feast of St. Mary, and we celebrate a momentous event in the life of Mary - the Annunciation. The feast of the Annunciation celebrates Angel Gabriel announcing to the Virgin Mary that God chose her to be the mother of His only son. Living Waters Catholic Separate School recognizes this day and all the staff and students that work at or attend Ecole St. Mary School in Whitecourt. God has chosen each and everyone of you to be a part of his family and for that we are truly grateful.

The Living Waters Board of Trustees values student voice. From March 20-22, the Board of Trustees in every community served met with grade 7 and grade 10 students to learn about things that could be considered to enhance and improve their learning experience. The theme of the engagement session was, “Faith, Hope, and Charity” and covered topics around faith, aspirations, and having the power from within to create a better tomorrow.
