Living Waters Catholic Schools welcomed 16 new teachers to the Division at its' Orientation Workshop held in Whitecourt on August 28th and 29th. Sessions were facilitated by Deputy Superintendent Trevor Mitchell and Associate Superintendent of Learning, Courtney Lawrance. During the two days, new teachers to the Division learned about the Living Waters Blueprint for the Future and about the Division's 20/20 Vision for Learning. In addition, new staff had the opportunity to learn about assessing students for reading using the Fountas and PInell Assessment kit, and about the importance of student choice and voice especially at the junior and senior high level. The entire group of new teachers participated in the Blanket Exercise that was facilitated by Natillie Quaife from Whitecourt and Candice Cook from Slave Lake. Providing support through orientation and mentorship to our new teachers to the Division and to the profession is a priority of the division and ensures success for all. These 16 new teachers along with all returning staff will be opening their classroom doors to welcome students in the three communities that the Division serves, Edson, Whitecourt, and Slave Lake. We wish them a successful start up to the new school year!
